Hello New Yorker Blog readers and followers

Because the weather isn’t getting warm enough – fast enough, this month is the perfect one to wear layers but in a lighter version. We can’t start running around in just t-shirts yet, but rather in t-shirts with cardigans and some form of jacket on top.

The military style is pushed to its limits this transition-season (from very cold to cold and slowly to warm), but we all don’t have to start wearing heavy camouflage. Instead we can borrow small ideas from the designers, like a pair of khaki pants, boots, tough leather jackets, bold shouldered jackets and bags in earth colors. The trick is combining this “Uncle Sam”-style with something softer, like a touch of color, some flower prints or funky colorful sunglasses.

The leather jacket has already become a uniform in Vienna and also all over the world, but the true fashionista, who possesses creative power knows how to wear it, so she doesn’t look like everyone else on the street. Pair it with weirder stuff than other people do; don’t just wear your leather jacket with jeans and a top, that’s so boring! Clothes are not only meant to be practical and keep you warm, they also express your personality and uniqueness!
